Encounter in Coyoacán

In 2022, I painted Encuentro en Coyoacán, a very special piece that was born during one of my first dates with Rafa—who is now my husband. That day, even though I usually felt uncomfortable drawing in front of others (and especially on a date), everything flowed so naturally that I felt confident and creative enough to sketch. Surrounded by the music of a guitarist who, amazingly, played with only three strings, and the unique atmosphere of Coyoacán, the sketch came to life and later became this painting. Since then, we’ve had over eight years of dates filled with drawing, music, and plants, and this work also reminds me how art allows me to see my own city with the eyes of a tourist.
