I am deeply honored to have been awarded in Istanbul the Empowered Girls, Empowered Futures prize, granted as part of the 40th edition of the Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Contest. This recognition celebrates a piece in which a boy and a girl share the same red cloth: he transforms it into a superhero cape, while she wears it as an apron, challenging gender roles imposed from childhood and bringing visibility to structural inequalities rooted in patriarchy.
During my visit to Turkey, beyond the award ceremony, we also had the opportunity to lead a cartoon workshop at an art school, where the children welcomed us with violins, flutes, a cello, and a wonderful concert before the class began. It was a deeply moving experience that reaffirmed my belief that art can open dialogues, spark reflection, and connect hearts across borders.
