In 2023, I collaborated with Reinserta to create a mural at the women’s penitentiary in Nezahualcóyotl, Mexico City. Over the course of three days, we transformed a space designed for babies who are born and spend their early years inside the prison alongside their mothers. The mural was part of a broader effort to dignify environments within the prison system—creating areas free from violence that support safe play, healthy development, and access to color and imagination. This project was made possible thanks to the collective work of an incredible team committed to building spaces that nurture early childhood, even in contexts of incarceration.
